Move # 13. Since the middle of May, all of our household goods have been in temp storage as we moved to GA, and we have been living with a suitcase of clothes, and a blow-up mattress. My sanity walked out back around week 3. (Oddly, no one has even noticed.) However, as of Friday, we now have our furniture and 300 boxes of "goods" waiting to be arranged and/or opened. Thanks for your prayers! Some of the boxes have been untouched since move #6, 1991. And it does pay to horde at times...(read that carefully). I'm finding pristine Pretty Ponies, original Transformers, and a very lonely "My Buddy" that I'm returning to his owner via Sunday services. I even found a little tie...
Seriously, all that to say that we have come to the end of this 'move maddness' we would endure every 2-3 years for the last 30. All the times we pulled the kids from their home, friends, teams, schools -- only to ask them to start over-- but always be ready to repeat the drill at a moments notice...and give up their dad for months on end while they lived with uncertainty. And for the times they were always the new kids in the neighborhood...the only kids in the "Youth Group" at church, and when they were each others only friends...we ALWAYS had you guys!! We knew that you were there praying for us, calling and checking, visiting...sending up your prayers and petitions on our behalf. We could count on you to be the stabilizing factor we needed, and so you were...and so you are. The Lord is gracious is ALL His ways!!
NOW we are privileged to be one of you. One of the stable, one of the proud. I bought address labels in a packs or 500 instead of 50, painted my first room, and bought my first refrigerator. I planted perennials instead of annuals, and already have a bag of tulip bulbs to put down this fall, for next year. We have a guest room AND an overnight grand-kids room...and they are both full of toys :) We met with the session Sunday to become members of CMPC (thanks to JSB for not airing all the family laundry). And finally, to seal the deal, I got a Georgia Drivers Licence, and voters registration card. Someone whose name rhymes with Billery does not stand a chance. Wow. We actually have a lasting home of record now.
Thanks for listening and for always being there for us since our first move to Camp Lejeune in January 1978. Now its OUR turn to be there for you!! Praise the Lord for watching over us all!

This really is a whole new life for you and the Col. A beautiful home you can really claim and settle in and unpack all the boxes. Same old faces and church and streets and neighbors year after year. I am so happy for you...that this dream finally came to be. And the fun has just begun. I assume. Being unretired and encumbered, how would I know? I do know, it's hot as Hades here. We have no air-conditioning. And the garden and fish pond are demon possessed. But all our boxes have been unpacked for many years. Most ended up at the dump. And we are definitely settled. Will you ever be able to sleep on a real mattress again?? Congratulations to you!!
